Govern metrics and explore the graph

Metrics turn raw columns into definitions your team can review and reuse. This guide covers the metric catalog, lifecycle, and influence graph.

Open the metric catalog

Go to Context → Metrics (/context/metrics). The catalog is the workspace's source of truth for governed measures. Use search and filters to find a metric, inspect its status and catalog, or open its detail page.

A useful metric states:

Review the lifecycle

Newly proposed metrics are drafts. A workspace owner or collaborator reviews the definition and data binding before certifying it. Certified metrics can enter an agent's governed scope. If a definition must change, submit and review a revision rather than silently changing what a familiar name means.

Deprecate a metric when people should stop using it. Add a replacement when one exists so builders and readers know where to move. Deprecation preserves the history; deletion is for definitions that should no longer exist.

Edit a definition

Open a metric from the catalog, or use New metric. Check the name, description, formula, dataset, dimensions, unit, and time settings together. Preview the result before certifying it. A valid formula is not enough if its business wording is ambiguous.

Annotations record caveats and events without rewriting the definition. Use them for context such as a reporting change or known data gap.

Explore the metric graph

Go to Context → Graphs (/context/graphs) or open a metric and build its graph. The graph shows how a metric relates to drivers, components, glossary terms, and saved knowledge.

Use it to answer:

The graph explains relationships; it does not invent formulas. Review every edge against the definitions your workspace has approved.

Give an agent access

In the agent builder, select metric catalogs or explicit metric scope. A certified metric becomes usable only when it is inside that agent's scope. Draft and deprecated metrics are not silently added to governed answers.
