Remix with your data
Remix turns a useful shared result into an agent that runs on your data. It carries over the source agent's analysis structure, metric definitions, and usable skills. It does not copy the sharer's dataset, rows, documents, credentials, or private workspace context.
Use Remix when someone shares an analysis you want to repeat for your own stores, customers, portfolio, or operating data.
Before you start
You need:
- A shared-result link with Remix enabled by its owner.
- A
.csv,.tsv, or.xlsxfile containing your own data. - Clear column headers and one row per business event or reporting entity.
For Excel files with multiple worksheets, Remix asks you which sheet to use. It imports one worksheet per attempt.
Before uploading, check Prepare your data and Data quality & the semantic layer. Dates should be real dates, numeric measures should not contain notes, and repeated header rows should be removed.
Start from a shared result
- Open the shared result.
- Select Remix with my data.
- If you are signed in and can build in more than one workspace, choose the destination workspace.
- Upload your file.
- Select a worksheet when prompted.
If you are not signed in, Luxiva creates a private guest workspace for the Remix. You can claim that work later by completing registration.
The original result stays read-only. Uploading a file does not change the source agent or tell the sharer what is in your data.
What Remix builds
Remix performs four steps:
- Ingests your file into your destination workspace.
- Proposes governed metrics from the columns in your file.
- Matches source requirements to those new metrics.
- Creates your agent and forks the source skills that can be safely remapped.
The resulting agent belongs to your workspace. You can rename it, edit its metrics and skills, change its scope, test it, and publish it like any other agent.
When metric mapping appears
Column names rarely match perfectly. A source analysis may require Total Revenue, while your file contains both gross_revenue and net_revenue.
Remix automatically accepts a match only when the evidence is strong and one candidate clearly wins. If two candidates are similarly plausible, it asks you to choose:
- Select the metric that matches your business definition.
- Select Skip if neither candidate is correct.
- Check the source metric name and the proposed metric names before confirming.
Skipping an optional requirement may produce a narrower skill. Skipping a required requirement can exclude that skill from the new agent. You can add or repair metrics later from the Context area and update the agent's skills.
Data and access boundaries
Remix transfers structure, not source data:
- Your uploaded rows stay in your destination workspace.
- The sharer's rows, files, facts, and connection credentials are not copied.
- The sharer cannot access your Remix just because they created the source link.
- Only a workspace Owner or Admin can choose that workspace as the destination.
If your workspace access changes while the mapping screen is open, Luxiva checks permission again before creating the agent.
Credits and generated deliverables
File ingestion, metric curation, and agent assembly can use account credits. If the shared result featured generated deliverables such as slides, audio, video, or documents, Luxiva may regenerate those formats using your data after the agent is ready. Those generations can use additional credits.
Do not resubmit while an attempt is processing. The dialog prevents immediate duplicate clicks, but waiting for the current result is the safest way to avoid duplicate work.
After the Remix is ready
Select Open my agent to review:
- The dataset bound to the agent.
- The generated metrics and their definitions.
- The skills that were copied and remapped.
- Starter questions and the chat input.
Ask one or two known-answer questions before sharing the agent. Confirm the figures against your source file, then follow Verify & evaluate.
Troubleshooting
The Remix button is missing
The share owner may have disabled Remix, the link may have expired, or the result may no longer be available. Ask for a new link with Remix enabled.
My file is rejected
Use CSV, TSV, or Excel. Remove title blocks, merged cells, repeated headers, subtotals, and notes inside numeric columns. Keep one rectangular table in the selected worksheet.
I do not know which metric to choose
Do not choose by column name alone. Check whether the source definition means gross or net value, orders or units, booked or recognized revenue, and which date should control the period. Skip the match if the business meaning is unclear.
A source skill is missing
The skill may require a metric your file could not provide. Add the missing metric, correct its definition, then attach or rebuild the skill from the agent's build page.
Generation takes time
Large files and metric curation can take longer than the upload itself. Keep the dialog open until it reports a result. If a request fails, correct the stated file or access problem before trying again.
